With this you will have everything you will need to transfer into your state where they will issue you a new regular Title. *Sales and Use Tax:
This is the rate of six percent (6%) (.06) of the purchase price or the NADA average retail price or "Good" condition, whichever is greater.
$30 minimum. Vintage Harley or Indian owners use "Fair" condition. Please contact us if you would like a tax quote.
FORMS:
- Bill of sale
shows a transaction between two parties (original seller, friend,
family member). Must contain sufficient information including Year,
Make, Model, Mileage, Color, VIN, Purchase Price, Seller/Buyer info,
dated and signed. If you don't already have one, the version below is best to use. A copy of your original is acceptable as it will not be returned.
- Power of Attorney signed and notarized
- Moto Recycle Application fill out completely and legibly.
- Vin verification Fill out section 1. Section 2 must be completed by a Notary, Repair shop, Police Officer or DMV. We recommend using them in that order. Leave any non/applicable spaces blank (title #, previously registered, etc.) A business card, letterhead or invoice identifying whom ever did the inspection must be included along with the verification.

Make sure that the vehicle is not currently titled in your state. Best vehicle history search we found to be Auto Data Direct. Only costs $4.95 and will give you a full report of the vehicle. Most importantly it will tell you if there is already a title in your state, as well if there is a lien listed. If there is no record with your state's DMV, then we are clear to move forward. If there is a title on file there, please contact us for your options.
After (10) years of not being registered most vehicle Titles are purged out of the system. If you think a Title is still in your state's computer, just contact the local "Department of Motor Vehicles" (DMV) and give them the Vehicle Identification Number from your vehicle. Then ask the status of the Title if any... If there is no record with your DMV, then we are clear to move forward. Some states have this service online. To do a more thorough search please use your states record search if possible. NICB provides a list of available states here. A free stolen vehicle VIN check also be found on the NICB website. This will only tell you if the vehicle is listed as stolen and or if it was deemed as a total loss and was sold as salvage.
