Frequently Asked Questions on how to get
a Lost or Missing Motorcycle or Other Vehicle Title with Moto Recycle:
Will I get a title with Moto Recycle's Service? Not directly. With our service you will receive a Vermont transferable registration card. (proof of ownership) Your DMV will treat this as a out of state title and then transfer into your state where they will issue you a new title for your vehicle. It is a loophole, but 100% works.
What is a transferable registration? The Vermont transferable registration card you will receive is proof of ownership, same as a title. You can sign it over to a new owner on the back or take into your DMV/Tag Agency and they will issue you a new title in your state.
How do I know if there is a title on file? We recommend using Auto Data Direct. For only $4.95 you will get a full vehicle history report. Most importantly you want to see if your state has the most current title on file. As well as if there is a lien on the vehicle. If there is no title in your state, or no lien listed, then we are clear to move forward. *Vehicles with less than 17 digit VIN will not pull history from online searches. It is best to call your DMV and ask*
How long does the title service process take and can I expedite it? Unfortunately their is no expedited service. The average turn around time is about 3-4 weeks. To get things started the fastest, scan and email good copies of your documents to MotoRecycleNow@gmail.com. All documents must be mailed in as well so we can keep the original power of attorney on file.
Why is my taxes based off of the NADA "good" value when my motorcycle is in poor condition? The DMV collects a sales and use tax of 6% of the purchase price or NADA "good" value or "average retail". The NADA describes anything less than "good" condition is not road worthy and may need tires, brakes or other repairs to be safely ridden. The DMV will not register the motorcycle unless it is road worthy.
Can I drive with the Vermont tag and registration provided? Yes you can. It is best to transfer into your state, but it is legal to ride in most states with regular insurance as the registration will have your local address. South Carolina however made it a law that you can not operate a vehicle in SC with a out of state registration with a SC address. The registration can be renewed yearly for a minimum fee.
Motorcycles $41, Motor Driven Cycles $21, Autos $60, Trailers $25, Trucks $70 and up (depending on weight). A renewal notice will be mailed to your address a few weeks before due.
What type of vehicles can you help with? We have helped customers get new titles for Motorcycles, Scooters, Mopeds, Cars,
Trucks, Trailers, Military Vehicles and Antiques.
